It is once again the time to list the best films of the year. I have already published other lists at Film Festival Today (where I am editor) and Hammer to Nail (where I am lead film critic). I break up my choices into documentary and narrative (fiction); this latter category includes animation. I do not differentiate between films that screened at film festivals and those that received streaming or theatrical releases. I offer a “Top 10” in each category, then an additional 10 runners-up for both, for 40 films total. In addition, I offer 20 more “honorable mentions,” bringing that final number to 60. Enjoy! Where I have previously reviewed a film, I link to that review in the title.
